About the Dino Nuggies

We are group of five teenagers and young adults from Rockhampton QLD and Tamworth NSW Australia, all alumni or former students at Lighthouse Christian School. We competed in the RoboCup Junior On Stage category for 2 years and, in 2025, we won the Regional, State and National titles with a Jurassic Park theme.

Our school is relatively small, and we did not have access to the technologies other teams may enjoy. We thus concentrated on improving on the existing build and add to it ( four new robots and four new props ) while considering sustainability and focusing on device communication using Flask. This includes LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and SPIKE Prime robots and props.

We have been invited by RoboCup Junior Australia to represent our country at the RoboCup Junior International competition in Incheon, South Korea, in July 2026. And we have gladly accepted.

The Dino Nuggies wish to remember Kathrin

Not every piece of news is a happy one. Sadly on 02/03/2026, we heard of the passing of Kathrin, Rob's wife. Kathrin and Rob are our long-time sponsors from Millennium Comics & Collectables. They have supported us for competitions and at LCS awards nights. Please pop over to their FaceBook page and leave some words of support for Rob, his family and staff.

Rob advised that an estate sale of Kathrin's belongings will be held on 28-29/03/2026, at the new Millennium venue adjacent to the East Street shop. All proceeds will go to the team which Kathrin, as a proud supporter, would have wanted. The times are 9am to 4pm on Sat. and 9am to 2pm on Sun. ...
